What did I think: In this here flick Tobey Maquire plays an all around model American Captain in the Marines. A proper heck-of- a- guy, good family man, and gosh darn it a loving husband….Who goes off on to his second tour of duty in Afghanistan. In walks his brither Jake Gyllenhaal, who is the opposite, to keep an eye on the wife and kids. (Insert WINK WINK here) Natalie and Jake share a moment, but when Tobey gets back from the war ( mind you he had been a prisoner of war this whole time not having a banner year) he suspects foul play and goes crazy.
That’s the movie. The story lies a little flat. I mean a love triangle movie?! There isn’t even a twist. I don’t know how many times I had to sit through that story line with Meredith Baxter Birney on the Lifetime Network…The only redeeming quality about this flick was Tobey Maguires performance. They said it was good in the trailer and they were right. If the movie was any good at all I could have seen Oscar talk, maybe. He was intense. He made me feel uncomfortable. It was kind of like going to someones house and getting there just as the couple stopped fighting uncomfortable. But once again, as for the movie as a whole…MEH.
